Han Pottery was born in Lushan County, Ya’an City, Sichuan Province, China.
Historically known as the “Qingyi Qiang Kingdom,” this region has long been a place where Han and Qiang cultures met and blended. Surrounded by rich history and traditional craftsmanship, Lushan preserves a unique cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations.
Inspired by this land, Han Pottery brings together the memory of ancient craftsmanship and the aesthetics of modern life.
Each ceramic piece is more than a functional object. It carries the traces of the earth, the warmth of handmade creation, and the stories of the people behind it.

A Ceramic Heritage Since 1889
The story of Han Pottery is rooted in a ceramic tradition that has been passed down since 1889.
In 2018, the brand was founded by Gao Junmei, a Sichuan Arts and Crafts Master, rural artisan, and inheritor of Lushan’s traditional ceramic craftsmanship.
For generations, our family has remained connected to clay, fire, and craftsmanship, preserving traditional techniques while exploring new possibilities in ceramic art.
In 2025, Wu Kaiyu, the next-generation inheritor, continued this legacy and developed Han Pottery as a contemporary ceramic brand, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design.
Our purpose is not only to preserve a heritage craft, but also to allow it to become part of everyday life around the world.
From Local Craftsmanship to the World
For many years, our ceramics were shared primarily through offline spaces, allowing visitors to experience our craftsmanship and cultural heritage in person.
Through physical workshops and local connections, we introduced our pottery to those who came to discover the beauty of handmade ceramics.
Today, Han Pottery begins a new chapter online.
By bringing our creations to customers around the world, we hope to share the stories, craftsmanship, and artistic spirit of Sichuan with a wider audience.
We believe that traditional crafts remain alive when they continue to be used, appreciated, and passed on.
A Family Rooted in Art
Han Pottery is built upon a family deeply connected with art and craftsmanship.
Our brand creator, Wu Kaiyu, grew up in an artistic family and has developed expertise in design, photography, painting, and sculpture.
He graduated in Art Design from Sichuan University Jinjiang College and later worked as an art design instructor at Jingdezhen Technician College.
From an early age, he studied painting and sculpture under the guidance of renowned artist and sculptor Han Deya, a member of the China Artists Association.
His artistic journey includes the creation of works such as:

- Childhood
He has also participated in cultural sculpture projects including:
- Ya’an Ancient Tea Horse Road Cultural Sculpture Project
- Ya’an Tibetan Tea Museum Sculpture Project
In 2023, Wu Kaiyu founded Kuoyang Culture Media Co., Ltd., producing documentary works including Craftsmen’s Wood Language and Western Sichuan Culture, focusing on traditional craftsmanship and regional culture.
Today, he continues to combine artistic exploration with ceramic creation, bringing new perspectives to traditional pottery.
